For the WHA residents groans of excavator arms echoed throughout the Great Brook Valley neighborhood Friday morning as one brick wall was toppled after another during the demolition of the Curtis Apartments.

The redevelopment project aims to demolish and replace these buildings with 529 new apartments, featuring a mix of income restrictions. Crews began the demolition of the Curtis Apartments for the much-anticipated redevelopment of this 372-unit public housing complex

The Worcester Housing Authority announces it has been named a grant recipient through the 2024 AARP Community Challenge. The agency was among 343 grantees, one of nine in Massachusetts. It was the only housing authority in Massachusetts to receive a Community Challenge Grant, and one of only four nationally.

Curtis Apartments Redevelopment Phase II among projects approved for 2024 Affordable Housing Development Grant Awards

The Worcester Housing Authority is pleased to announce it has been approved for funding of Phase II redevelopment of Curtis Apartments. The estimated total coast of Phase II is $140 million. A grant amount has not yet been announced.
